The primary mission of the LCHC Teen Coalition is to reduce risky behaviors that lead to teen pregnancy, HIV/STDs, substance abuse and violence in Lowell, in the belief that promoting healthy behaviors will enhance future prospects for young people. Current Teen Coalition youth opportunities:

League of Youth (LOY) - Promotes healthy decision-making and addresses three core needs - health education, recreation/outreach, and adult support. The program consists of a 4-part series on health education directly provided to youth by trained Peer Leaders. The health education component focuses on lesson plans on abstinence, teen pregnancy prevention, substance abuse prevention, and violence prevention. The community event component gives Peer Leaders an opportunity to reach youth, provide resource information, and encourage responsible decision-making and creative expression.

Cambodian Youth Development Partnership (CYDP) - Offered jointly with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lowell engages Cambodian youth as peer leaders in addressing the unique needs of families that experienced the Khmer Rouge era and refugee resettlement with a special emphasis on creative expression and healthy coping strategies. CYDP challenges participatants to reduce risk factors associated with alcohol and other drug use and the transmission of HIV and other STD's among Cambodian-American youth.

Teen Outreach Program (TOP) - Offered jointly with the United Teen Equality Center this effective program has been delivered in more than 35 states across the U.S. for more than 20 years with powerful results in reducing teen birth rates and school drop-out.
