Quality health care begins with the patient-provider relations. For a population as diverse as that of Greater Lowell, providing that care requires effective communication in all of the services the Health Center provides.

The Health Center employs bilingual providers who can meet the cultural, linguistic, and medical needs of populations who are best served in languages other than English.  More than 80 members of our staff are trained as certified medical interpreters to support better communication between patients and medical professionals. Members of our staff speak more than 28 languages. These include Khmer, Laotian, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, French, Mandarin, Hindi, and Swahili, among others.  Additional languages are accommodated using telephone interpreting services.  Video Remote Interpreting services are also available for American Sign Language (ASL) via portable iPads, providing on-demand, face-to-face access to a certified ASL interpreter.
